Friday Favorites Authors New To Me In 2019

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another Friday Favorites post! This awesome idea comes from the blog Something of the Book. There’s a different prompt each week, and I pick my favorites for that topic. This week’s topic is authors new to me in 2019.

While I’ve always been a book lover, I have recently expanded my horizons and started being open to new genres. This also means that I’ve read a lot of new authors this year. I loved books by some, while I didn’t really connect with book I read by others. Here’s my favorites from various genres:

Mystery/thriller: Karin Slaughter, hands down. She writes these incredibly captivating stories, and I love her characters. They’re all realistic: flawed yet likable. She’s got plot twists galore, and I never see them coming.

Romance: it’s a toss up between Gina L. Maxwell and Hannah Murray. Their romances are well-written, with great plots and chemistry that simmers between characters until it finally comes to a boil. When that happens … well, you'll just have to trust me when I say that you want to read their books.

YA: I’ve been reading a lot of this lately, and I’ve discovered that I especially love fantasy in this genre. If you had asked me to list my favorite a month ago, I would have said Sarah J. Maas (ACOTAR series rocks), but I’ve read some books by Leigh Bardugo, and she’s also captured my book-loving heart.

There you have it - some of my favorite authors of 2019! I could go on, but this list would literally be endless, and you’d probably get bored. I’m overwhelmed just thinking about listing all of the great authors that I’ve read in 2019. But … if you’d like to see more of the books I’ve enjoyed, you can browse around my site or check out my Goodreads page here.
