It felt like October just flew by, and it’s already November! I’ve been dealing with a lot of health issues lately, and instead of letting it get me upset and frustrated, I’m planning to post something I’m thankful for every day this month to keep me feeling positive. Today, I’m grateful for fantasy books that let me believe in magic, which helps me escape reality in a healthy way for a little bit (ok, I’m lying, for a few hours) daily.
I’ve recently started following the Friday Favorite prompt from the Something of the Book blog, and today’s is Favorite Vampires (or other supernatural creatures). Since I did go through a vampire-loving phase many years ago, lately I haven’t read too many books about vampires. I’ve read more books about faeries lately, and decided to ramble about that. Here’s some of my favorite faeries instead!
Tamlin from A Court of Thorns and Roses
Obviously Tamlin made it onto this list. He’s respectful and strong, and loyal to his people. He uses his magical abilities to help his people, and takes care of not only the people of his court, but also the humans under his care. He’s definitely a likable character, and he’s one of the good guys in a land teeming with bad guys. While I haven’t yet read the rest of the series, he’s pretty high on my list of faeries I like.
Okay, I know this one may have you shaking your head. Cardan is kind of a jerk. And by kind of I mean he’s a huge jerk. But he does have his moments where he is almost decent. If you’ve read the whole series thus far, you’ll understand a little more about why he acts the way he does. You’ll also be aware of some of his better qualities. While he’s still a jerk, there’s something about him that I do actually like, for some strange reason. Come on, I can’t be the only person out there that doesn’t totally despise Cardan. He definitely isn’t the worst faerie out there, and he’s not even the worst one in the series!
Lucifer (aka Lucy) isn’t a full-blooded Fae. He’s technically only half-Fae, but is fully magical and a totally interesting character. There’s chemistry between Abby (the main character) and Lucy, but there’s complicating factors as well. Not to mention that Abby has huge issues with Fae as a whole. But Lucy is a really good guy, and trying to do the right thing. He’s adorable and sweet, and even the fact that his nickname is a girl’s name is cute, especially since he doesn’t even seem to know that.
What do you think? Who are your favorite faerie characters?
