While this is a post about my favorite spells from the Harry Potter books/movies, I just wanted to touch on my favorite character for a quick minute. While the focus is mainly on Harry (duh), he couldn't have made it through without a little help from his friends. Right from the start, Hermione is a huge help, even if she is a little bit of a know-it-all. She definitely grows into some social skills as the series goes on, although she continues to stay brilliant. She's hands down my favorite character, and is a prime example of girl power.
I'm also a huge fan of both the books AND the movies. I read all the books before seeing the movies. While I absolutely loved the books, it has been quite some time since I've read them. I'll definitely have to schedule some time to read through them again. There's something about October that just makes me want to watch the movies. I've been watching them recently, and they still make me want to live in a world where there's magic! I guess no matter how old I get, I'll always be a kid at heart. Alas, I'm still a muggle.
Now that I have that out of the way, lets get down to this list of my four favorite spells from Harry Potter! This Blogtober prompt was brought to you by the creative genius of Hâf at Library Looter and Anniek at Anniek's Library.
Come on. Who among us read the book/watched the movies and didn’t want a Patronus of our own? Because I’ll definitely admit that I wanted one. It was a really cool part of the Harry Potter book and movie franchise. Although I'd much prefer not to have to face a Dementor.
Summoning things to me, even if they aren’t close by? YES PLEASE! Who wouldn’t list this as a favorite? Seriously. This was the first one that came to mind as a favorite Harry Potter spell. I’d probably wind up using it to summon things that I put away, and can’t remember where I put them.
Unlocking spells? Yes please! This would so help when I’m locked out of places. I’ve actually tried using the automatic key fob for my car to unlock the house door. Obviously that didn’t work. But if I was able to use the Alohomora spell, I could have gotten in. I wonder if the spell works for car doors too, or if it only applies to regular doors in buildings. Hmm….
This would truly come in handy during blackouts. Or when I’m trying to find something in the dark. Because the batteries are always dead or dying when I need a flashlight. My cell phone battery always manages to die during a blackout as well, which isn’t helpful at all.
What are your favorite Harry Potter spells?
